Tendring Care Home

Tendring Residential Care Home – Totton

Welcome to Tendring Residential Home.

John and Patricia Grimes first established Tendring Care Home in 1982 and it continues to be owned by Carol Lacey, their daughter, who has managed the home for the last 30 years.

Tendring is a 23 Bedded care home situated in Totton, on the edge of the New Forest with close proximity to Southampton. Residents will be supported by friendly, experienced and professional staff who are highly trained in all aspects of care.

We do as a home specialise in residential and dementia care but are fully able and equipped to meet a multitude of care needs. This delightful home offers some rooms with patio doors, which open out onto the pretty garden space where residents can enjoy a cup of tea or lunch under the gazebo cover provided. This is encouraged by the staff who are here to cater for your every need.

Management Team

We’re delighted to introduce the dedicated management team at Tendring Care Home! Our team is passionate about providing exceptional care and creating a warm, supportive, and engaging environment for all our residents.

We believe that a strong, cohesive management team is fundamental to providing outstanding care. Our team works collaboratively to ensure that Tendring is a place where residents feel safe, valued, and truly at home.

Carol

My name is Carol, and I am the managing director of Tendring Care Home.

My mother and father established Tendring in 1982. I’ve had the privilege of growing up with this home, joining its management team and dedicating 30 years to upholding and evolving the standards my parents set. This journey has been incredibly rewarding, allowing me to build deep connections with our residents and their families, and to lead a team that shares our profound commitment to well-being.

Today, as the owner of Tendring Care Home, I am immensely proud to continue my family’s legacy. While we’ve embraced modern care practices and facilities, the heart of our home remains unchanged: a deep-seated belief in providing individualised, dignified care within a true family atmosphere.

We are not just a care home; we are a continuation of a family’s dedication to making a genuine difference in the lives of those we are privileged to support.

Bob

My name is Bob and I am the finance director at Tendring Care Home.

I am a practising accountant and it is through my work that I met the founders of Tendring Care Home, John and Pat Grimes. I had a close relationship with them and have lived the Care Home’s pathway for over 35 years.

I am married to Rose and together we have three adult children. In my spare time I enjoy the garden, visiting local places of interest and going through the pain of following my boyhood team Southampton FC!

In 2017 an opportunity arose for the acquisition of Tendring Care Home and I was able to support Carol in completing the March 2018 purchase.

“Giving support and care to others is one of the most rewarding feelings” and whilst I keep a close eye on the finances I take an active part in ensuring the highest standards are kept for the residents under the responsibility of the owners.

Hannah

My name is Hannah and I am a director of Tendring Care Home.

Growing up, Tendring Care Home wasn’t just a business; it was an extension of our family home, filled with warmth and a sense of belonging.

My own journey within Tendring Care Home began as a care assistant. This hands-on experience gave me invaluable insight into the daily lives of our residents and the incredible work of our care team. I then progressed to Care Coordinator, a role that allowed me to further develop my understanding of person-centred care and the intricacies of managing resident needs.

Today, I proudly serve as a director alongside my mother. Together, we are committed to honouring the legacy of my grandparents, ensuring Tendring Care Home remains a place where residents feel valued, respected, and truly at home. Our shared passion for care drives us to continually enhance our services and maintain the warm, supportive atmosphere that defines Tendring Care Home.

My name is Leah-Ann, I am a dedicated Residential Care Home Manager at Tendring.

I bring a robust foundation in leadership and operational excellence, underpinned by my NVQ Level 5 in Leadership and Management. My passion lies in creating a nurturing and empowering environment where residents thrive and staff feel valued.

With a specific focus on person-centered care, NVQ Level 2 in Dementia Care provides me with a deep understanding of dementia care principles and best practices. This specialised knowledge enables me to implement tailored care plans, foster a supportive environment for residents with dementia, and provide essential guidance and training to my care teams.

I am dedicated to fostering a positive and inclusive culture, ensuring every resident receives dignified, compassionate, and personalised care.

Regulatory

Our Commitment to Excellence: Working with Regulatory Bodies.

At Tendring, our unwavering commitment is to provide the highest standards of safe, effective, compassionate, responsive, and well-led care. A cornerstone of this commitment is our proactive and transparent relationship with regulatory bodies, particularly the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the independent regulator of health and social care in England.

We embrace the role of the CQC as a vital partner in ensuring continuous improvement and accountability within the care sector. Our approach to regulation is not merely about compliance; it is about genuinely striving to exceed expectations and consistently deliver outstanding care.

Our strong relationships with regulatory bodies underscore our dedication to providing a safe, high-quality, and nurturing environment for all our residents. It is through this collaborative approach that we uphold our promise of exceptional care at Tendring.

Testimonial

I moved into Tendring House for a couple of months while my fire-damaged home is being repaired. I could not wish for a better place to come to. The home is lovely and the management and staff are so good and kind. If I ever had to come to a care home on a permanent basis, I would wish to come here.
